The origin of the world plastic surgery comes from the Greek word, Plastikos, meaning to mold. Legend has it that the origins of Plastic Surgery started with the concept to changing and adapting existing techniques, or inventing new ones, to alter shape to improve aesthetics and function. The term seems to have stuck.
Plastic surgery is a huge field in fact, with evidence of it being practiced in the old Egyptian times, such as attempts are reconstructing noses. In recent years, and with the more aggressive nature of warfare, new injuries have appeared that required reconstruction. The first world war seems to be a defining time for plastic surgery and its emergence in its current and modern form.
